Ready to Rappel

Let us know how rappelling is going for you, what have you done so far? Regular rappel, jumping, upside down, forward?

  1. I have yet to go upside down, but so far I have regular rappelled and attempted jumping. It's all a matter of experience, the more you do it the more comfortable and skilled you get. Though I doubt I will forward rappel, there's always a possibility Ill feel ready to one day. But other than that Its going pretty good and I can definitely depend on my group :)

  2. So far I have only done the regular rappel. I can't wait to jump and go upside down!! Rappelling is actually really fun! My group is extremely trustworthy and nice about everything:) The only thing I know for a fact Im not doing is forward rappelling!!

  3. This rappelling unit is awesome!! It was really like fun and exciting to do the fall and recovery and the jumping, although I know I do need to learn the rope holding technique more solidly so it comes naturally. I am super pumped to go forward and walk down the wall like Joseph Gorden Levitt had to do in a scene for Inception! My group was kind of more reluctant to rappell at first, but once everyone went at least once we will now all move through the different ways of rappelling faster.

  8. I'm really enjoying rappelling! I've gone down normally, jumping, upside down and forwards and they were all a lot of fun. At first I freaked out a little before each one, but after doing it multiple times it just gets easier
and you're able to enjoy it more.

  9. So far I love repelling! I can't wait to get through my day to be able to go to gym, definitely one of the highlights of my day. I have so far gone down normally, jumping, and upside down. I'm really proud of my group because everyone has at least tried repelling and we all always encourage each other the whole time.

  10. I am never walking down the wall face down ever again. Other than that I love rappelling--it's really fun and EXHILARATING. Woot! I want to start climbing because I feel like the majority of our class is ready. There really isn't all that much to say about it except that I'm having lots of fun and can't wait for Devil's Lake!

  14. I've only gone down the regular way, but I would've liked to go upside down. It's just that it takes our group so much time to set up. But that's okay!! The more times I go down, the more comfortable I get, so practice really does make perfect! I'm really excited to go all the different ways down and I'm looking forward to going in depth in this unit!

  15. I've only gone once and I'm looking forward to rapelling again. But as for trying different methods such as upside-down. I'm not too sure if that'll happen.

  16. I have really enjoyed rappelling so far. Although, when I first went down I was pretty scared/nervous but it gets better the second time you go down. I haven't tried going upside-down yet and that seems pretty intimidating but it seems kind of fun! I think with each time I go, I will become more used to it and have more fun!

  17. At first I was terrified to rapell but as I got over my fear the first time to let go of the railing and hold on to the rope it became considerably easier. Although it has been easier for me to rapell I am still too afraid to go upside down or face first. Repelling that way is just pushing my fear.

  18. Rappeling was scary, but so fun! I only have been able to get down twice but I'm looking forward to jumping and going upsidedown. Not sure if I'll go face first, but it'd be a cool experience. I'm even more excited for devils lake now!! (:

  19. So far, I have only done the regular rappelling and only gone once. However, I am looking forward to trying a few of the other things as well once everyone in my group has gone. For my group, our first priority is to have everyone go at least once, no matter how scared they are, before any one else goes again. Overall though it is going really well and it is a lot of fun!

  20. Ive really enjoyed repelling so far, i think its getting some people a little out of their comfort zone which is a good thing. By now, i think most of the people in our group at least knows how the systm works, but i think we could work on everybody knowing how to set it up on top of knowing how it works. I look forward to gym everyday!
