  1. Today i thought the activity went well overall. Then Again there were people who were not paying attention to what we were doing and it was difficult for me and jon to lift people over the rope when some people didnt know what was going on. Also i think the talk we had after was not very successful because there were still people who were not paying attention. But other then all that the activity was fun.

  2. I thought that as a class, we definitly didn't try hard enough to complete this activity. Maybe we need some motivation, or maybe we should all discuss as a class how we are going to complete each activity before we pursue it. I do also feel we were distracted, but that's because I think we were a bit tired and ready to go home, but this class is always fun, so i'm not sure why we were tired. Also, I thought the talk we had today was needed in order to open our eyes to how off task we were. I know we can do much better! This is a cool activity, and hopefully we can learn from it.

  3. I felt like there was no unity between the people trying to get others over and the people who were waiting for their turns. There were a lot of distractions and not much order within the activity. We lacked communication between each other and weren't really able to "connect". The talk we had afterward though really seemed to help. I hadn't fully realized how distracted we had been during the activity and talking about it gave me a better sense of how I am going to act in the future activities we do.

  4. Like I said I was totally distracted by the whole shocking thing. I think it was just one of those days. I know that It was a very long week for me and others too. But in the future we need to get past that and work together. It was more a matter of not paying attention because you weren't not necessarily needed all the time.

  5. Although this activity was a group activity i do not think there was much the people waiting could do while some of the stronger classmates lifted people over. Also that rug was a little too tempting to not play with. However i think with that talk we had afterward everyone will be more attentive next time and the activity will be successfully completed.

  6. I didn't think this activity went as well as it did when compared to the previous day. I was more focused and alert on Thursday, but I was totally distracted on Friday. I tried harder on Thursday because I just wanted to get the task over with. I'm not saying that I wasn't trying on Friday, but I noticed a lot of people were goofing off and I figured that we wouldn't be able to get much done, so I kind of didn't pay attention as much. Hopefully, the next time we do this activity we'll have everyone participate and focused.

  7. Like we discussed on Friday, a lot of people were not focused on the task at hand. Many were distracted with other things. Also, we weren't being very encouraging to each other, and that also has to do with being distracted. Because we were not focused, no one cared to encourage one another. Also, we didn't try very hard to come up with a variety of ideas in the activity. I believe if we focus together better on Monday, we'll be able to improve in all those areas, and achieve the task.

  8. I think as a class we could've done a better job to stay focused and work together to get the task done. I think it was a little harder with this activity though because if you didn't need to help lift the people over, there was not much you could do but wait. I think the talk we had after though was good and made us realize that we need to focus and work together more and I think if we do this activity again we can be successful.

  9. I feel that we can do a much better job with this activity. I for one am one of those people who needs to work on focusing more because I was one of those people going around and shocking everyone. However I think we should have a plan so that the people who are waiting are required to do something to help benefit the process of getting over the rope because when you are bored like I was you look for something to do to make it fun and for me that was shocking people. So if we are all required to do something you will have less people screwing around. I believe the conversation we had was good because it made me realize that I needed to stop screwing around.

  10. Although I wasn't there on Friday, I noticed that on Thrusday some people weren't putting as much effort in as others. The task would be much easier to complete if everyone was focused and willing to take risks in order to complete the challenge. I did think that the talk after on thursday was successful because it helped people understand the issues of why the activity was taking a long time to accomplish.

  11. I thought that we were really not working as a class on Friday. We have accomplished plenty of tasks in the past when we set our minds to it. On Friday we just seemed to be all over the place. Some people were trying to participate and others were just really distracted for one reason or another. To move forward we really have to all put in that extra effort and pay attention to what is going on. Those side conversations don't necessarily need to stop, but the task at hand needs to be the top priority. I think this will help when moving forward.

  12. I thought our class could have done better during the activity on Friday. We weren't really working as a team and people were doing their own thing. Not everyone was focused on the activity at hand and that led to the class's inability to complete the task. Overall, our class was not focused on the activity, not many people shared different ideas to complete the task, and there wasn't much encouragement going on. In order to accomplish certain activities in the future, our class has to begin working as a team and become more focused. We need to be more encouraging to everyone and not become discouraged.

  13. I think that this activity could have been done more efficiently during class. I feel like we had a quite a few ideas but only put a couple into play. Thus, we couldn't achieve our goal as easily. Also, I think that since it was Friday and it had probably been a long week for most people, that we did not focus on the task at hand as we usually do. Furthermore, I think that the conversation after was helpful because we were able to discuss how we individually felt about the activity. This experience showed me that we all will not always finish every task as quickly as the last one. Thus, we need learn to use our five values and be capable of practicing these skills in the activities.

  14. I think that the activity could have gone a lot better had the majority been paying attention and focused. I'll admit, I was distracted, mainly because after I got over, I didn't know what to do. Sitting down wasn't an option, so what was there for me to do? Also, the fact that many people weren't paying attention to anything that happened made it more difficult. Focus and teamwork are the key.

  15. It was going pretty smooth we almost accomplished it, but people need to realize it's better to be spread out then have everyone near the rope and socializing. If that happens, then things will get harder to do. I was just waiting until mostly everyone got through the rope. Although, I'm sorry for being distracting by shocking people. Can't really do much but get your part of the task done, because not everyone can really be involved physically except going over the rope.

  16. i thought it was kind of interesting because we werent all communicating well enough to hear eachothers ideas and we werent all looking after eachother as well as we could have. we were all in our own little froups when we should have been talking and listening to what the whole class had to say

  17. At first, there was definitely effort and people trying; we started off really pumped and ready to go! But the second day we just were not as one, not that we even were the first day. Somehow we need to gain that unity first and then go on to share ideas, working as a tea to acheive the goal of getting everyone over. I know I contributed to the lack of focus on the team, but that activity was really hard and it depended on certain people to get most of the work for everyone else done. It was just reeeeally hard.

  18. I don't think the actvity went very well most of the people were either talkin or shocking eachother, next time we should keep our shoes on. Despite the lack of attention the activity wa fun and i think that we can do it if everyone focuses on the task.

  19. I've been noticing that a lot of people know exactly what to do and how to make our class and this activity work, its just a matter of actually doing it. Again its the losing interest and getting distracted thats making a fairly simple task almost impossible. I am guilty of this too, i was jumping over the big block thing and shocking people with out paying attention to what was happening around me. I think i heard a lot of the fact that Assunta wasn't there that day as well. I think its safe to say she has a pretty important leadership roll in the class now, but still this is no excuse. I think it comes down to the fact that we don't hold each other accountable and make sure were all focused. We should be calling people out for not paying attention and make sure everyones on top of what they're supposed to be doing.

  20. To be blunt the activity on friday was a complete mess. Yeah at first it seemed like it started out ok but when I looked around no one was really taking control and everyone was in seperate groups and not many people seemed that interested. I must admit at first I was listen to the group that started to put people over but then I stopped because no one else was listening or doing anything and that didnt get me motivated to do anything. I agree with anthony about Assunta not being there. There was a huge change in everyone's willingness than if Assunta was there but that isnt an excuse at all. There was no super strong leadership role. There were leaders who did a good job though. In the discussion at the end there was some discussion about whether or not it is good to have everyone be leaders or just have a few people. I think that everyone needs to share thier ideas but there needs to be a few distinct leaders. It's just human nature to look for and follow a leader in activites that require order, such as this class. There are natural leaders and natural followers. To have everyone be the samething is a recipie for disaster. Anyways my point, there needs to be distinct leaders but everyone should share thier ideas.

  21. I know our class is completely capable of completing this activity! We had the tactic and a pretty good way of doing it! It was just the whole focus thing that was a problem! Especially the time when we had to go back because someone who had already made it over touched the rope when they became distracted! Hopefully this week we can pull ourselves together and make this activity work!

  22. I am a little disappointed that we couldn't get this activity completed. As a class, we really need to work on staying focused, and I kinda realize that I should have been cheering the people who got over, instead of just sitting there. I think that if everyone who wasn't actually going over was encouraging the others, we could have completed this task in the period. I feel like this activity was well within the reach of our class and it could have been done. I don't really know what my thoughts are on the leadership issue. After reading the other posts, I can't come to a conclusion whether everyone being equal, or there being leaders is better, or whether having both at the same time will actually work. Through this activity, I learned that our class has a ways to go before we can complete activities consistently and smoothly.

  23. Although getting dropped on my head is not generally how I like to spend my Friday afternoons, I still found this activity valuable. We need to learn that even after a long week, we need to maintain our focus. If not, accidents can happen. In general, I think more people need to step up and take leadership roles rather than the same people who lead every time. Perhaps people will be more involved in the class this way
